After a two-year hiatus, the famous boat competition is back in all its glory.
The pandemic that affected all aspects of our lives has also put into a halt the festivities that once showcased our Filipino traditions. Despite the hardships that unfold for the past two years, the annual fishing boat race competition is back on track.
Last May 24, crowd flocked the coastal shores of Brgy. Salong in Calaca, Batangas to witness the Bangkarera 2022.
The fishermen’s “bangka” or fishing boats were decorated with enticing colors that will surely catch anyone’s eyes as it glided through the coastal waters.
This year, participants gathered once again to participate in this annual tradition. Per usual, each competitor raced in time against each other as cash prizes and trophies are at stake.
More than being a competition, Bangkarera is a form of paving the preservation of the rich coastal waters of Brgy. Salong and keeping in mind for the continuous to protection of the environment.
Moreover, the locals were grateful to host these activities as things are slowly getting back to normal. Still, they also emphasized that wearing face masks and regularly sanitizing their hands should be observed at all times.
